For the love of all things creative.

This month was my second month of no social media, and I've been doing a lot of rethinking and pondering on how to move forward with this art page.

All my life I've loved creating, whether that's creating with clay, crafting, home DIY, paint , or my newest addition to the creation station- wool.

Having these creative outlets are essential to my wellbeing, and at this point I am not exactly sure how to share my love for all things creative.

But I am hoping that after this 6 month hiatus I will have a clearer vision as to how I can apply my love for these things into something that friends and family, near and far can benefit and learn from.

This month I've been diving into my new found love for knitting and completed a project I am very proud of, my first sweater that was a bit more complicated for the beginner knitter ( at least in my opinion)😜

This is the beautiful, Room to bloom sweater from Veronica Lindberg- Kutovakika. I stumbled onto her youtube channel looking for knitting tutorials and loved her designs so much.

Now I think I want to knit almost every knit pattern in her book- Knit this. Her patterns are easy to follow and caters for both the beginner (like myself ) and the more advanced knitter.

This sweater also includes some flower embroidery which I've never done before, after ripping out a couple of flower attempts I finally found that just doing the embroidery on both sides (so with the stitches on the inside also) worked better.

This was an absolute joy to knit, and have so many projects lined up that I would love to knit, but first up I think will probably be another sweater... or a fun beanie.

Knitting is not the only thing I've been doing this month, I've also played with a some Air dry clay.

I created this cute little two tone cup, as a candle.

Back home in SA, my mother in law had these beautiful cup candles in her home and I thought they were so stunning, she then went and bought me a pair for my birthday one year, I loved them so much, they were such a special gift and had a special spot in our home but I had to leave them behind when we immigrated here to Norway so I gifted them back to her.

I thought it would be fun to try and recreate something similar.

I added some Lavender & Lemon essential oil to the wax- Refreshing and reminds me of home.

I love how it came out and it's such a fun addition to my kitchen's breakfast nook, maybe I could make a Youtube tutorial video on how to make your own when I'm back from my social media break. If that's something you would love to see, please drop me a little candle 🕯️emoji in the comments section below.

Then last but certainly not least I have created three mini A5 paintings this month. They are inspired by things that make me feel calm and bring me joy.

The plan with these small paintings, is to make them into larger Art Prints, and I will probably open my shop for their release with my comeback in July.

I love the cozy nostalgia in these paintings- doing the simple things in life that brings me joy, like arranging flowers in a vase, or taking a blanket outside to soak up the sun on a warm and sunny day.

I tried to play with lines and patterns a bit more in these, and used water soluble oil pastels to create interesting layering which I think gives these paintings such a playful touch with just a hint of that special sentimental value.

I intend to create more paintings like these, over the next couple of months and will be releasing them all in July, I will keep you updated on the exact date as the time gets closer.

And that's all I've created this month.

Hope you enjoyed seeing all my creative projects and come read more about what I create next month.

Love

Janine
